YWCA of Northwest Indiana celebrated its 100-year anniversary with a virtual Mask-querade Gala fundraising event. Held at the Majestic Star Casino in October, Spectacle Entertainment was featured as the event’s Presenting Sponsor.
YWCA is dedicated to the elimination of racism and empowerment of women and girls. The organization also supports men, seniors, children, and entire families by providing critically valuable services while promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
The $100,000 goal, set by YWCA, was reached during the event with funds going for updates and renovations at the Gary facility, located at 150 West 15th Ave. Contributions were collected through a variety of means including corporate sponsorships, donations and a silent auction.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, the planning committee, our staff and all those served by the YWCA of Northwest Indiana, we want to express our sincere gratitude to the sponsors, donors and supporters of our 100th Anniversary Virtual Mask-querade Gala,” YWCA Executive Director Caren Jones stated, “We reached our Goal of $100,000 thanks to the generous support of each of you.”
Spectacle Entertainment CEO and Majestic Star Casino General Manager, Jahnae Erpenbach, sits on the board of the local YWCA and was instrumental in the success of the virtual event. Majestic Star Casino, owned by Spectacle Entertainment, along with Majestic team members and customers contributed programing support and more than $45,000 in cash and in-kind donations.
“Through the Spectacle ALL-IN program, our senior leadership team has the opportunity to engage with various organizations in our community. A focus on diversity, inclusion and local involvement reinforces our commitment to social responsibility throughout our region,” noted Erpenbach. “The local YWCA is near and dear to my heart. I’m proud of the work done by our team at Majestic, as well as everyone involved who helped make the 100-year anniversary celebration a success.”
The theme “Y” 100 YWCA Years Matter was key to the virtual event that included live music, dancing, a silent auction and raffles. The gala was co-hosted by media celebrities Samantha Chatman of ABC 7 Chicago and her father DJ Sam Chatman of 95.1 Chicago.
“Thank you to Jahnae and Spectacle Entertainment’s Majestic Star Casino for your integral part of the YWCA of Northwest Indiana being 100 years strong and celebrating decades of service in our community. Your investment in the YWCA directly benefits hundreds of participants from our childcare program with E-Learning to our Learn to Swim Program. We absolutely would not have made it this far without you,” Jones added.
